WENHAM — Chief Kevin DiNapoli is pleased to announce that a team of assessors from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission (MPAC) will arrive on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, to begin a comprehensive evaluation of the Wenham Police Department’s policies, procedures, operations, and facilities.
The assessment is a key component of the Department’s participation in the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Program. This voluntary process to gain state accreditation involves a rigorous, self-initiated review in which police departments strive to meet and maintain standards that have been established for the profession, by the profession.
The Massachusetts Police Accreditation Program consists of 274 mandatory standards, as well as 120 optional standards. In order to achieve accreditation status, the Wenham Police Department must meet all applicable mandatory standards and at least 60% percent of the optional standards.
Deputy Chief Jason Lucontoni, the Department’s Accreditation Manager, has been leading the effort to ensure compliance with all program requirements and to prepare the necessary documentation demonstrating adherence to the established standards. Achieving full accreditation is a significant professional accomplishment and reflects a department’s commitment to excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement in the delivery of police services.
Members of the public who are interested in learning more about the accreditation process are encouraged to contact the Wenham Police Department to speak with Chief DiNapoli or the Accreditation Manager, Deputy Chief Lucontoni.
