Chief Kevin DiNapoli reports that the Wenham Police Department and its public-safety partners responded to a serious motor vehicle crash on Route 1A.
On Wednesday, June 8, at about 9:20 a.m., Wenham Police and Fire were dispatched to Route 1A by Wenham Lake for reports of a multi-car crash. A preliminary investigation by responding officers determined that a 2006 GMC Sierra traveling southbound crossed the center line and struck a 2007 Toyota Corolla head-on.
The Corolla’s driver had to be extricated from the car by first responders from the Hamilton Fire Department, which provided mutual aid at the scene.
All three occupants, the driver of the Sierra and the driver and passenger in the Corolla, were transported to an area hospital by Wenham Fire ambulance, Atlantic Ambulance, and Northeast Regional Ambulance. The Corolla’s driver and passenger were later transported by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the Wenham Police Department, with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call the Department at 978-468-5500.
Wenham Police wish to thank their public safety partners for their swift and professional response.
