WENHAM – Chief Kevin DiNapoli is pleased to announce that members of the Wenham Police Department are taking part in a No Shave initiative throughout November to support the fight against cancer.

Through the campaign, members of the department may forgo facial hair restrictions during November and donate or raise $100 to support cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. A total of 13 officers are taking part.

Wenham Police are participating in the initiative in memory of retired Capt. Jeff Tobey, who lost his life to kidney cancer in April 2020.

Capt. Tobey received treatment from Dana-Farber, and in 2019 was chosen by his oncology team to be a hero for the Dana-Farber Jimmy Fund Walk. Heroes are those that inspire others to walk and raise critical funds to support cancer research and patient care.

“This cause is one that is near and dear to of all us at the Wenham Police Department,” said Chief DiNapoli. “We are proud to support Dana-Farber and its mission of defeating cancer in honor of one of our beloved officers who recently passed after a three-year battle. Capt Tobey’s memory continues to inspire us to do our part in the fight against cancer.”

Community members interested in donating to Dana-Farber in memory of Capt. Tobey may do so here.
