WENHAM – Police Chief Kevin DiNapoli is pleased to share that the Wenham Police Department held a special ceremony to recognize officers being promoted, retiring, and those who earned special recognition on Tuesday, April 9.

The ceremony was held in Town Hall before the Select Board and friends and family of officers.

Officers Bart Connors and Larry Nestor, who was not in attendance, were both given a lifesaving commendation for a Feb. 2 incident in which they responded to a report of an individual who was having trouble breathing. Both officers helped to perform rescue breaths on the subject, using a bag valve mask, until firefighters and EMTs arrived, helping to give the patient the best possible chance at survival.

Officers Tyler Salois and Matthew Krikorian were sworn in as new officers. Both men started work with the department earlier, but were able to have their loved ones pin their badges on during the ceremony.

Officer Krikorian comes to the department from Groton. Krikorian has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Fitchburg State University.

Officer Salois is from North Andover, and previously worked as a corrections officer at the Essex County House of Corrections in Middleton for three years. Officer Salois is a graduate of the Lynnfield Police Academy and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Framingham State University.

Officer Chad LaBrie was previously promoted to sergeant and had his sergeant’s badge pinned to his uniform by his wife. Sgt. LaBrie is a 17-year veteran of the Wenham Police Department, who served as a part-time officer for seven years and as a full-time officer for the past 10 years. Sgt. LaBrie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Salem State University. He has served as a detective and served with the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council before being promoted.

Sgt. Chris Machain was also recognized upon his retirement, and was presented a plaque by Chief DiNapoli. Sgt. Machain served with the Wenham Police Department for 30 years before retiring.

The ceremony also recognized the late Officer Bill “Buzzer” Foley, who passed away in September of 2022. Foley served with Wenham Police for 31 years as a part-time officer. Chief DiNapoli presented Foley’s wife Martha Foley with a plaque commemorating her husband’s life and career.
