September is National Preparedness Month!

September is National Preparedness Month, an annual effort to help the entire country become better prepared for disasters of all types.

This year’s theme is “Don’t Wait. Communicate. Make Your Emergency Plan Today.”  Throughout the month, the Northeast Homeland Security Regional Advisory Council will be using Facebook and
Twitter to provide links to information and planning tools provided by READY.GOV that residents can use to be better prepared

Each week will focus on preparedness strategies for different types of hazards according to the schedule below:

Week 1 (September 1st-5th): Floods
Week 2 (September 6th-12th): Wildfires
Week 3 (September 13th-19th): Hurricanes
Week 4 (September 20th-26th): Power Outages
Weed 5 (September 27th-30th): Lead up to National PrepareAthon Day
(September 30th)
