Wenham Police Department Recognizes Promotions, Retirements, Welcomes New Employees

The Wenham Police Department is pleased to share that it held a ceremony recently recognizing those Department members who have been promoted, hired, or have retired.

The ceremony was held on Monday, June 28, at Pingree Park, and marked the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic that Department milestones have been celebrated in-person.

Among those recognized:

Chief Kevin DiNapoli

Chief DiNapoli was appointed effective May 1, 2021. Chief DiNapoli is a 26-year law enforcement veteran, having served in numerous patrol and supervisory roles in Hudson, N.H., Police Department. He served on the Southern New Hampshire Special Operations Unit for 11 years and has been a certified forensic polygraph examiner for 14 years. Chief DiNapoli holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Anselm College.

Chief DiNapoli served as Wenham’s Deputy Chief beginning in August 2017.

Deputy Chief Jason Lucontoni

Deputy Chief Lucontoni was appointed effective May 1, 2021. He has worked in the Lyndeborough, N.H,. Police Department, the Rockingham County, N.H., Sheriff’s Office, and Hudson, N.H., Police Department during a 27-year career in law enforcement. He served for five years on the New Hampshire Drug Task Force, a statewide multijurisdictional efforts under the Attorney General’s Office. He served as a Team Leader for two of those years.

Deputy Chief Lucontoni holds an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Hesser College, and is working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Southern New Hampshire University. He served as a Detective in the Wenham Police Department starting in June 2019.

Officer John Phillips

Officer Phillips began with the Wenham Police Department in June 2020. He comes to the Wenham Police Department from the Salem State University Police Department, where he worked starting in September 2017. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Salem State University.

Officer Bartholomew Connors

Officer Connors joined the Department in December 2020. He has worked as a Reserve Police Officer in the Tewksbury Police Department, and served in patrol and supervisory roles in the Boston University Police Department. Officer Connors holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from Suffolk University, and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Boston University.

Officer Michelle Princi
Officer Princi joined the Department in December 2020, having served as a Patrol Officer in the Mashpee Police Department for eight years. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina, and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from University of Massachusetts Lowell. She has been involved in numerous charitable activities, including the Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod, Habitat for Humanity, and the Cape Cod Military Support Foundation. She also serves as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air National Guard.

Officer Keegan O’Donnell

Officer O’Donnell joined the Department in May 2021. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Fitchburg State University, and graduated from the Fitchburg State University Police Academy.

The ceremony also recognized three longtime Department employees who have retired:

  • Chief Thomas Perkins, a Wenham native, retired on May 1. Chief Perkins received many awards and recognitions during his 35-year career in the Department, and volunteered with programs and organizations in Wenham.
  • Michael Perry retired on June 30 after nearly 40 years as a Reserve Officer, also assisting with cruiser maintenance and medical supply inventory.
  • Sue Hersee retired on June 30 after 20 years as Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police.

“The Town of Wenham is fortunate to have had Chief Perkins’ leadership, and to have such dedicated employees as Mike and Sue within the Department,” Chief DiNapoli said. “On behalf of the Department I wish them good luck in their well-deserved retirements.”
