Wenham Police Investigating Robbery

WENHAM — Police Chief Thomas Perkins reports that the Wenham Police Department is investigating an apparent armed robbery of a young woman walking in a residential area of town.

On Tuesday, at about 5:30 p.m., a 27-year-old woman soliciting for MASSPIRG was working an area of Burley Street near the Danvers border when she said she was approached by a black male in his late 20s.

The victim said that the suspect pushed her to the ground and said that he had a gun. He then took her iPad, purse, and phone and forcibly removed her North Face fleece jacket. The suspect then fled in a red Toyota Rav 4 sport utility vehicle into Danvers.

The suspect is described as bald, about 5’10” with a thin build, wearing a white t-shirt. The victim noted that the Toyota had a white license plate, but she did not have any of the numbers.

Anyone having any information on this case is asked to call Wenham Police Department Detective David Marsh at 978-468-4000
